Our YAHS students continue to amaze us with their accomplishments!
This is quite the musical year for Lily, who joined us last summer at YAHS. Lily studies with Mary Kay Waddington and is a student at the Denver School for the Arts. She recently won a spot on the Young Musicians Foundation of Colorado roster, an organization that supports young artists in their projects. As the top Junior Division winner, Lily performed a concert for them on October 15, which featured some of the repertoire she mastered at YAHS this summer.
In December, Lily will play Benjamin Britten’s A Ceremony of Carols for the first time. A piece for choir and solo harp, A Ceremony of Carols is a staple of the harp repertoire, and many harpists can vividly remember their first time performing this piece!
With her school orchestra, Lily will travel to New York City in March for an orchestra competition (go DSA!) and at the end of the year she’ll perform the Debussy Danses with them. She will continue to develop her orchestral skills as a member of the Denver Young Artists Orchestra, Colorado’s premiere youth orchestra.
