YAHS alums Bethany Wheeler (YAHS 2008-09) and Rebekah Efthimiou (YAHS 2009) gave their Carnegie Hall debut on Saturday, January 19, 2013, as part of Oberlin’s 2013 Illumination Tour. They performed “La Valse,” by Ravel, “The Firebird Suite,” by Stravinsky, and “Iscariot,” by Christopher Rouse. Also on the program, Mozart’s Piano Concert in C Major (no harp!). The concert was written up in The New York Times (Read the article).

“The tour itself was whirlwind and pretty exhausting,” says Bethany, “but it was a fantastic experience (it was also my first time in the city), and it was such an honor to play on Carnegie Hall’s stage.”

Bethany and Rebekah are currently harp majors at Oberlin Conservatory of Music, where they study with Yolanda Kondonassis.
